What are the shipping costs at Studiewinkel?
If you order € 20 or more at Studiewinkel.nl, you pay no shipping costs.
For all orders with an order value below € 20 we charge € 2.99 as a contribution towards shipping costs.
How do I get a discount on study books?
If you buy two or more Dutch-language study books at the same time in our webshop, you can get a 5% student discount on the Dutch-language study books in your order. Great!
To get a discount on your study books, you must be enrolled as a student at a Dutch university of applied sciences or university.
No discount code needed for Studiewinkel
You do not need a discount code: tick the box in your shopping cart indicating that you are enrolled at a Dutch university of applied sciences or university and the 5% discount will be automatically applied in your shopping cart.
More than this 5% discount on Dutch-language study books is not possible, not even at other websites. This is the maximum discount that may be given under the Fixed Book Price Act.

Why is my book list not available?
Can't find your book list on our website? Then there are two options:

Your programme has not yet finalised your book list.
We want to make sure you order the right study books. That is why we only put your book list online once it has been definitively approved by your programme. If this applies to your book list, you will have the option to leave your email address. You will then receive a notification as soon as your book list is available. -
We do not (yet) offer your book list.
Too bad. But: we are continually expanding our range of book lists. That is why we are happy to add the book list for your programme as well. Let us know via this form which book list you are missing. We will then get to work to make it available.
Do I have to create an account?
No, you don't have to. You can also order as a guest. But we do recommend it. Because in addition to taking very little time, you get extra benefits with a Studiewinkel account:
- You can always check your order status
- You can view your Track & Trace code
- You can easily register returns
- We can help you better and faster if you have questions about your order
- Next time you order, you don't have to fill in all your details again
So we recommend creating a Studiewinkel account when you order.
Why is my item unavailable or out of stock?
We want to make it as easy as possible to order your entire book list in one go. But we also know that you don't want to wait too long for your books. That is why we are transparent about our delivery times and indicate when your study book is temporarily unavailable.
Tip: set up a notification
Is the study book you want to order temporarily unavailable? Sign up for a reminder: leave your email address and we'll send you an email when the book is back in stock. Handy, so you don't have to keep checking whether you can order it yet.
Sometimes we unfortunately cannot yet supply certain (English-language) books. This is due to contractual agreements. We are working to make this possible in the coming weeks and months. So if you come back next semester, there is a good chance we will be able to supply your books.
What is the difference between mandatory and recommended items?
Your book list contains the study materials prescribed by your programme. A distinction is made between mandatory and recommended study materials. We explain the difference below.
Mandatory study books and study materials
Your programme indicates that you definitely need these to follow your programme. We pre-select the mandatory items for you, so you can order your book list with one click. But you can also deselect them if you do not want to order them via Studiewinkel — you may already have them.
Recommended study books and study materials
Your programme indicates that it is a good idea to purchase this product as well, but that it is not strictly necessary.
Wrong delivery address: how can I change my address?
When you order your study books from us, your order is usually processed immediately. It is then no longer possible to change your delivery address.
However, if the delivery time of the item is more than 3 working days from today, please contact us. We will then try to update the delivery address for you.
Good to know
We will send you a track & trace code as soon as we have handed your package over to our delivery partner PostNL. In some cases you can still change the delivery address of the package via the PostNL app.
I ordered the wrong item
Oops, you ordered the wrong item. It happens to the best of us. No worries, you can return the product to us after receipt. Further on this page you can read how returns work.
Is the delivery time of the item more than 3 working days from today? Please contact us. We will check whether we can still stop the delivery of your order.
I want to cancel my current order
Have you (just) placed an order and want to cancel it? Unfortunately, that is not possible. As soon as we receive your order, it is immediately forwarded to our warehouse and the books are sent to your address.
There is one exception: is the delivery time of your ordered Dutch items more than 3 working days from today? Please contact us directly. We will check whether we can still stop your order. For foreign titles a different procedure applies and this is unfortunately not possible.
No worries, you can return your order
Once your order has been delivered, you can return it. Further on this page you can read how that works.
Can I buy or sell second-hand books via Studiewinkel?
Via Studiewinkel.nl you can both sell and buy second-hand books. Check the sales website for more information on how to list your books. If there are second-hand books for sale, they are simply listed in the shop.
Please note! If you buy a second-hand book that comes with an online licence or activation code, this CANNOT be used with a second-hand book — once activated, it is non-transferable. If you want a book with a working licence or code, buy the book new.
Can Flemish students order from Studiewinkel?
Yes, they can! We offer many Dutch-language and international titles in the webshop that are used at Flemish universities of applied sciences and universities. We also ship materials to Belgium. You can easily search in the search bar to see if a book is available and then order it.
Questions about payment
How can I pay at Studiewinkel?
You can choose from various payment methods, including pay later.
As a student you keep a close eye on your money and don't always have a large sum of savings available to pay for your study books straight away. That is why at Studiewinkel.nl you pay the way you want. In advance or afterwards: the choice is yours. This way you can always order immediately and have your study books quickly.
You can pay on Studiewinkel.nl with the following payment methods:

- Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Maestro): free
- PayPal: free
- Riverty (formerly: Afterpay): € 2.99
We also expect to offer these payment methods on our website soon:

Can I pay afterwards at Studiewinkel?
Yes, you can pay afterwards via credit card or Riverty.
Sometimes it is convenient to pay afterwards — for example if you need your study books now for an important lecture or exam, but have not yet received money from DUO. Or when your parents are paying for the books on your book list, but the money has not yet arrived in your account. That is why we offer the option to pay afterwards via credit card or via Riverty (formerly Afterpay). For a payment via Riverty we charge € 2.99 in transaction costs. So you always choose how you want to pay for your study books.
Please note: do not buy products on credit that you cannot afford to pay. Paying by credit card or Riverty can be convenient, but make sure you do not run into payment problems. Always make sure you are well informed. Do you have questions about borrowing money for study books? Contact your educational institution or see this page from the Dutch government about loans.
Can I order and pay on my employer's account?
Unfortunately you cannot (yet) order on account.
It is possible to enter a different invoice address with a cost centre or reference during your order. This way you can put the invoice in your employer's name and claim the costs.
We also always offer the option to choose a payment method where you pay afterwards. Read more about paying afterwards and Riverty in the question "Can I pay afterwards at Studiewinkel?"
Questions about Online books
How do I recognise an online book?
If the book is only available online, you can tell by the orange sticker with the text 'Online book'. If a digital version of a physical book is also available, the text 'Also available as: Online book' is shown in the complete product overview for that book. To order the digital version, click the 'Online book' link. On the book lists, for books where the programme indicates you may choose between physical or digital, you can tick which version you want to order.
How do I order an online book?
A Studiewinkel account is required to order online books. If you do not yet have a Studiewinkel account, you must first create one. You can then order an online book by selecting the product, adding it to your shopping cart, and checking out. After completing your order you will almost immediately receive an email with an activation code, which you can use to link the online book to your Studiewinkel account.
Where can I find my online book after purchase?
A Studiewinkel account is required to order online books. After completing your order you will almost immediately receive an email with an activation code, which you can use to link the online book to your Studiewinkel account. After linking, you will be taken to Your Bookshelf. This shows the online books you have purchased and linked. Online books you have not yet linked are listed under Your Orders.
How do I link an online book to my account?
Via the link in the email with the activation code you will reach the 'Activate Books' page in your Studiewinkel account. Here you enter the activation code and click the 'Retrieve Books' button. You then select the online books you want to link and click the 'Link Books' button. Please note: once an online book has been linked, it can no longer be linked to another user's account.
I have not received an activation code. What now?
First check whether the email has ended up in your spam folder. If you cannot find it there, please contact us.
My activation code is not working. What now?
Please contact us. Include your order number and describe the problem clearly.
Am I allowed to share my online book with someone else?
No, online books may not be shared with other persons. It is possible to order online books for other persons and forward the email with the activation code. However, that other user must create their own account in Studiewinkel.
Can I return an online book?
No, by completing the order you waived your right of withdrawal with regard to online books. This means that an online book may not be returned.
How long do I have access to my online book?
On Your Bookshelf you can see how long the licence for the online book is valid. This period starts as soon as you open the online book for the first time. Online books that have not yet been opened can be recognised by the blue sticker with the text 'New'. Once an online book has been opened once, that sticker disappears and you can see the expiry date of the licence.
Why do I have to create a Bookshelf account when I open an online book?
Online books are only accessible via Bookshelf. The first time you open an online book, you therefore need to create a Bookshelf account. Once you have created this account, you can open an online book with just one click.
How does Bookshelf work?
With Bookshelf you can do almost everything you can do with a physical book, such as highlighting text, making notes, and creating flashcards. Watch the training videos.
Questions about delivery
What do I do if my book arrived damaged?
If your book arrived damaged, always contact us. Report the damage by email or give us a call. We often ask for photos of the item to assess the damage. Depending on the severity, we will offer you a discount or the option to return the book and receive a new copy. Never just send it back without prior notice! We cannot then assess whether the damage was already present or occurred during the return shipment. We may not accept your book in that case.
What if I am not at home during delivery?
If you are not at home when DHL or PostNL comes to deliver your package, your package will be taken to a DHL Servicepoint or PostNL point. DHL will leave a card in your letterbox. Using the QR code on it you can see via track and trace where your package is being delivered. For PostNL you can see this in the PostNL app. Pick up your package in time, otherwise it will automatically be returned to Studiewinkel after 7 days. We may charge you for this. Bring your ID when you pick up your package.
More information about your package in the DHL app or PostNL app
Your order is delivered by DHL or PostNL. When your order leaves our warehouse, you will receive an email notification from us containing a track & trace code. The DHL track & trace code always starts with "JVGL" and the PostNL one always starts with "3S".
Via the DHL and PostNL apps you can always view the most up-to-date delivery information for your package. You can also specify what DHL or PostNL may do with your package if you are not at home. Note: PostNL no longer leaves a note in the letterbox if you are not at home.
Wrong delivery address: how can I change my address?
When you order your study books from us, your order is usually processed immediately. It is then no longer possible to change your delivery address.

What is the delivery time for my study books?
During ordering you can always see the current delivery time per product. In most cases we deliver quickly, often as early as the next day.
More sustainable shipping
We want to deliver your order as quickly as possible, but also sustainably. This means that when you order multiple items, we may wait to ship your order until all products can be delivered. If this is the case, we will let you know during ordering.
When your order leaves our warehouse, we will email you the Track & Trace code of the carrier (DHL or PostNL) so you can track your order.
Why has my delivery time changed?
It can happen that the availability of the item you ordered has changed — for example because an item is delayed on its way to our warehouse. You should have received an email about this with more information.
Can I pick up my books?
Studiewinkel is an online shop. We have no physical stores and our warehouse has no pick-up counter. Therefore it is not possible to pick up your order from us.
We always offer free shipping on orders above € 20. Your package will then be delivered to your door. If you are not at home, DHL or PostNL will deliver your package to a DHL Servicepoint or PostNL point. Via the DHL app or PostNL app you can see where your package has been delivered. You can then still pick it up there within 7 days.
Does Studiewinkel deliver abroad?
Studiewinkel currently only delivers within the Netherlands and Belgium. You can therefore only provide an invoice and delivery address in the Netherlands or Belgium.
Why does my delivery time change?
It can happen that the availability of the item you ordered has changed. You should have received an email about this with more information.
Can I also choose a PostNL point or DHL Servicepoint as my delivery address?
At Studiewinkel you can only enter a home address as your delivery address, not a PostNL point or DHL Servicepoint. It is therefore also not possible to enter the address of a PostNL point or DHL Servicepoint yourself; your package will then come back to us and will NOT be delivered.
Questions about returns
How can I return (part of) my order?
Do you want to return (part of) your order — for example because you ordered the wrong book? That is possible. Register your order for return within 30 days of receipt. You then have up to 14 days after the return registration date to send your package back. We charge the shipping costs (€ 6.95) for returning your package. These shipping costs are deducted from the amount we refund you. You therefore do not have to pay them yourself at a PostNL point.
How returns work
Want to return your package? Follow this handy step-by-step plan for a smooth process:
- Register your return via your Studiewinkel account
Log in, go to your order and click 'Register return'. Did you NOT create an account? No problem; follow the instructions under the "Returns" heading in the order confirmation email you received. - Select the items you want to return.
- Provide a reason for return.
For example, you ordered the wrong item or have stopped your studies. If we made a mistake, such as putting the wrong book in your package, you can indicate that here too. - Complete your return registration.
- Now send your package back.
Do not wait too long: your return must arrive at our warehouse within 14 days of return registration. - Pack your package carefully. Make sure it cannot slide or get damaged during transport.
- Download your return label.
You will receive your return label from us by email. You can also find it in your Studiewinkel account under 'Returns'. You can have the label scanned at a PostNL point — they will print and attach a label for you. Handy. Of course you can also print and attach the label yourself. - Drop off your package at a nearby PostNL point. You will receive a Track & Trace code.
- Your return is complete.
You can track your return in your Studiewinkel account.
Once we have received your return, we check the package. If we approve your return, you will receive your money back within 2-3 working days via the payment method you used at checkout. You will also receive an email with a credit invoice.
If something is not right, we will contact you.
Which study books can I not return?
Books that are combined with a digital licence can no longer be returned once they have been removed from the seal (the plastic wrapping around them). If the book is still sealed, the normal return conditions apply. eBooks or fully digital items also cannot be returned.
Books purchased second-hand cannot be returned after you have positively confirmed receipt of the book. You buy and receive these books directly from a private individual and not via Studiewinkel.
I have returned my package. How quickly will I get my money back?
As soon as we receive your return, we check whether everything is correct. If your return is approved, you will receive your money back within 2-3 working days via the payment method you used. We will also send a credit invoice by email as confirmation. If something is not right, our Customer Service will contact you.
I am unable to return via my Studiewinkel account
Have you followed the return process steps but are still unable to complete it? Please contact our Customer Service.
Did you NOT create an account? No problem; follow the instructions under the "Returns" heading in the order confirmation email you received.
You can also use our general Return Form. Once you have registered your return via the form, you will receive the return instructions by email.

At this time you can order study books, other books, and study materials such as calculators at Studiewinkel.nl. Unfortunately we do not yet have digital study materials such as e-books available. We expect to be able to offer these in the coming academic year.
On the book lists we show all the study materials required for your programme — including items we cannot yet supply. This gives you a complete overview of what is mandatory for your studies.
