About the University of Groningen and studying in Groningen
The University of Groningen, usually abbreviated as RUG, was founded in 1614 and is therefore one of the oldest universities in the Netherlands. The university is located both in the city centre and on the Zernike Campus on the northern side of Groningen. Well-known alumni include Aletta Jacobs, Pim Fortuyn, Arjen Lubach and Epke Zonderland.
If you choose to study in Groningen, you will be living in a true student city. It is full of cafés, student associations such as Vindicat and Albertus Magnus, and extensive sports facilities.
